STOP IT® Case Histories Refineries & Petrochemical Continued
Thinning Pipes in Mississippi:
STOP IT® was needed because of a cracked pipe leaking hot condensate. They used STOP IT®
on a 2" diameter black iron pipe carrying hot condensate. The operating pressure was 150psi
with a temperature of 250°F. Three rolls of 2"×4' STOP IT® were used to
seal the leak.
Quote:
"We have used this product in areas where thinning had occurred and was discovered by
on-stream inspection with U-T Gauging."
A Steam Bath in Texas:
STOP IT® was used on a 1" diameter steel pipe carrying steam. The operating pressure was
215psi with a temperature of 390°F. STOP IT® sealed the steam leaks that were caused
by corrosion.
Quote:
" Excellent results in sealing and adhesion properties."
Holes?:
STOP IT® was used at a Texas Gulfcoast refinery to restore a mothballed cooling tower back into
temporary service. The eight risers to the tower had holes large enough to put your fist
through. These low pressure, high volume leaks were repaired using STOP IT®.
Quote:
" We have used this product on water leaks, H2S leaks, phenol, and steam
catalyst, and a variety of other chemicals with a high success rate."
Can't Sut down? No Problem!:
At a Texas refinery STOP IT® was used on a 12" diameter steel flare header carrying fuel
gas. The operating pressure was 8psi with an ambient temperature. The line had pin hole leaks
over a 15' area and could not be shut down. They used 20 rolls of 4"×12'
STOP IT® to seal the leaks and reinforce the thin wall pipe.
Quote:
" Easy to use, Works great!."
Scheduled Shutdown:
In an Alabama refinery one roll of 4"×12' STOP IT® was used to seal a leak on a 3" diameter fiberglass pipe carrying diluted
sulfuric acid / effluent. The operating pressure was 45psi with an ambient temperature.
Quote:
"Product held well for six days allowing for a scheduled shutdown."
